Biography

Ray F. Lin (林瑞豐) was born in Taoyuan, Taiwan, in 1977. He earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Industrial Engineering & Management from Chaoyang University of Technology in 1999 and 2001, respectively. During his academic journey, he developed a passion for continuous learning and research.

After completing his military service in 2004, Ray pursued a Ph.D. in Industrial & Systems Engineering at the University at Buffalo, graduating in September 2009. His doctoral research focused on human factors, exploring the relationship between speed and accuracy in hand-control movements. By synthesizing decades of relevant research, he proposed a novel movement control model that effectively explains the underlying mechanisms of the speed-accuracy tradeoff.

Since joining the Department of Industrial Engineering & Management at Yuan Ze University in August 2009, Ray has been dedicated to teaching and research. He enjoys inspiring students and fostering a positive learning environment. His current teaching responsibilities include Work Study, Human Factors, and Usability Engineering.

In this early academic career, Ray extended his Ph.D. work in promoting his developed methodology to evaluate a variety of hand-control movements in the field of Human-Computer Interaction.  In recent years, his research interests have evolved to study and design critical features to build AI models for Recognizing Human States (e.g., emotion, visual fatigue, AR/VR cybersickness, and cognitive workload) and developing Computer-Assisted Techniques for Medical Decision Making.  To advance the field of human factors in Taiwan, he actively participates in several professional societies, including the Ergonomics Society of Taiwan, the International Ergonomics Society, the Chinese Association of Ergonomics Societies, and the Ambient Intelligence Association of Taiwan.
